Telopea Park School Before and After School Program
Information
The Telopea Park School P&C Before and After School Program (B&ASP) offers a safe and stimulating environment for primary children outside school hours.
The Before School Care (BSC) and After School Care (ASC) programs operate under Part C1(d) of the Constitution of the Parents and Citizens Association of Telopea Park School.
The programs are licensed with ACT Schools authorities and has been accredited as a participant in the Child Care Quality Assurance (CCQA) system with the National Children Accreditation Council.
The Before School Care operates in the hour before school starts. The After School Care program starts immediately after the school ends, through until 6pm.
The BSC & ASC programs offer varied activities according to availability of qualified staff, season and interests.
Some activities offered during the program are:
Cooking
Creative crafts
Board games
Videos
Reading
Supervised, general play and ball games in the playground
Child Care Benefits is available to eligible parents, through the Family Assistance Office, to help with the cost of the fees for the BSC and ASC programs.
Active After–School Communities program (AASC)
For the children attending the After School Care program, the Telopea Park School ASC program participates in the ACT Government sponsored Active After-School Communities program (AASC). Generally two activities are offered each term and children have the opportunity to participate in modified sporting and coordination skills development at no extra cost above the ASC fees.
Examples of some of the activities are:
AFL
Baseball
Basketball
Circus skills
Dance
Tennis
Volley ball
Extra–Curricular Activities program
In addition, the ASC program provides a separate Extra-Curricular Activities Program (ECAP) offering activities to any child in the school after school-hours. These activities attract an additional fee.
Activities vary throughout the year. Examples of some of the activities are:
Art Activities
Athletics
Assistance with homework and reading (French and English)
Computing
Cooking
Drama
Gymnastics
Kung Fu
Pottery
Soccer
Tennis
Afternoon snacks are offered to all children in the above programs.
Holiday program
Subject to the number of bookings and availability of staff and resources, a Holiday Program is offered during most school holidays. Child Care Benefits is also available to eligible parents to assist with fees of this program.
