Last year, the Astrolabe Project (a STEM project) was held for the first time for the Y9 students at Telopea Park School. As part of the project, students had to present their investigation to a panel of experts. The best presentations were awarded a trip to Hobart to visit the Astrolabe naval frigate. They will be traveling the 28th of February and 1st of March. Teachers and members of the French embassy are very happy to accompany six students to visit different scientific organisations. They will have the chance to wear expeditioner clothing set at the Australian Antarctic Division, understand the importance of the ice core at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies, go on board the Astrolabe ship and have the chance to talk to scientists of the CSIRO, members of French Navy and Antarctica specialists. What a wonderful experience for our young scientists : Ellie Minogue, Ella McNaughton, Isabella Stein, Marion Halas, Niamh Hurditch, Alexandra Vickery !
